Chat Should Not Only Happen Between Humans and AI

The first word in ChatGPT is “Chat.”

But I do not think chat should be limited to conversations between humans and AI. Human-to-human communication will always matter more. The real value of AI may not be in answering questions for us, but in entering the messy, subtle, complicated places where real human relationships actually happen.

A Very Ordinary, Very Human Scene

Eva: Should we go hiking this weekend?

Eric: Let me check the weather.

Eric: ChatGPT says it is going to rain heavily this weekend.

Eva: Come on. You just do not want to take me.

Eric: If you do not believe me, go ask it yourself!!!

Human stupidity in communication truly has no bottom.

What If AI Appeared Inside the Conversation Instead?

Eva: Should we go hiking this weekend?

Eric: Sure.

Eric: Convia, how is the weather this weekend?

Convia: According to the weather forecast, it will rain heavily this weekend. Would you two like to consider another activity?

Eva: Oh, I see... Fine. Then you can cook for me at home.

Eric: .....

The difference is not whether AI can look up the weather. The difference is whether AI can step into the moment where people are coordinating, negotiating, and communicating with each other.
